Flay Day contributions through Gleaner Life Insurance Society’s flag exchange project raised $2,500 for veterans’ housing.
Community Action Agency of Jackson, Lenawee and Hillsdale counties accepted the donation earlier this week.
CAA will use the money through its Supportive Services for Veterans Families program.
Gleaner Life matched the nearly $1,250 that was contributed by local residents during the flag exchange. The project gave out 180 new American flags, while more than 300 old and worn flags were dropped off. They will be retired by American Legion Post 97 of Adrian.
