Adrian, MI – A Japanese style retail store and restaurant in Adrian that just moved to a new location in town had the building they are housed in condemned by the City.
Numazu Delights received the news Tuesday after an inspection of the building on West Maumee… that is also the location of the Eclipse Bar.
Based on the report completed by the City of Adrian, there were several issues with the space, including: no occupancy limit posted; fire alarm systems need to be activated and tested by a certified company; no smoking signs must be in place; grass control; repairs to the exterior fence; plumbing repairs….among others.
One of the owners of Numazu Delights, Ted Covey, talked to WLEN News Tuesday, and said that most…if not all… of the issues can be resolved quickly.
The inspection took place just before 11am Tuesday, and the business was notified of the action being taken at around 1:30pm that afternoon. Covey questioned why the City took such swift action in condemning the building when other businesses in Adrian have been given leeway in the past.
The inspection took place at the request of the owners of Numazu Delights. The building inspector, based on the above issues, determined that they could not issue a Certificate of Occupancy… and therefore condemned the building.
