Adrian, MI – The Adrian Inn has been deemed a public nuisance by the Adrian City Commission.

The vote by the group came after a lengthy public comment time where community members argued for and against the resolution.

Ownership and supporters of the Adrian Inn said that the business was the only hotel in Adrian that took in the homeless population during the COVID-19 pandemic…utilizing programs that paid for part of their stay. They said that they complied with everything asked of them by the Police in an attempt to reduce the number of calls.

Supporters of the Adrian Inn being named a public nuisance cited the drug use at the property, safety for the surrounding neighborhoods, and saw it as a step in the right direction to fight blight in Adrian.

The discussion Monday night was in-depth… with mental health, drug use, the COVID-19 Pandemic, blight, and other issues talked about at length. Both sides agreed that the issue faced by the community, the City, and the ownership at the Adrian Inn is complicated.
