Hudson, MI – A $400,000 deficit in one of the City accounts has Hudson in crisis mode.
The State of Michigan is currently conducting an audit to discover what led to the deficit in the Utilities Fund, and ultimately, who is to blame.
In late April, the City Treasurer was let go and the City Manager was placed on administrative leave as the investigation is ongoing.
To keep basic operations functioning in Hudson, the Council voted to… essentially… borrow funds based on future tax income. The financial situation has also brought the Maple Grove Avenue street project to a grinding halt.
It is unclear at this time if the Council will find alternate funding to complete the multi-million dollar project.
