Distinguished Young Women of the Irish Hills Scholarship Program 2021

Brooklyn, MI – Four local junior girls in high school recently participated in the Distinguished Young Women of the Irish Hills Scholarship Program under the new direction of Savanna Spindelman.

Contestant #1 was Bekah Hays (From Tecumseh High School), Contestant #2 Delaney Jones (From Jackson High School), Contestant #3 Audrey Ousley (From Hanover-Horton High School), and Contestant #4 Gracie Hudson (From Hanover-Horton High School).

The scholarship program is for girls who are juniors in high school and live in Jackson or Lenawee Counties. Girls who participate in this program are to fulfill the ‘Be Your Best Self Promise’ which consists of being studious, ambitious, involved, healthy, and responsible.

Winners of the scholarship awards include:
Be Your Best Self Award – Gracie Hudson
Interview Award – Bekah Hays & Delaney Jones
Fitness Award – Bekah Hays & Delaney Jones
Scholastics Award – Audrey Ousley & Delaney Jones
Talent Award – Audrey Ousley & Delaney Jones
Self Expression Award – Delaney Jones & Bekah Hays
Finalist Award – Audrey Ousley

Bekah Hays, from Tecumseh High School, received the 1st runner up award… and Delaney Jones, from Jackson High School, was the winner of the local contest.

Bekah and Delaney will be competing for additional college scholarships in the Distinguished Young Women of Michigan State program. Then the winner of the state program will compete for additional college scholarships at the National finals.
