Blissfield, MI – The Village of Blissfield has issued a precautionary boil water advisory. Due to a mechanical fault in water treatment equipment, microbial contamination may have occurred in the water system. Microbes are generally not harmful and are common throughout the environment. However, a failure of treatment can allow disease causing microbes to get into the tap water.
According to Nora Kiefer, Blissfield Water Treatment Plant Supervisor, corrective measures are currently being taken to correct the situation. After discussion with the State of Michigan, this precautionary boil water notice is being issued out of an abundance of caution.
This boil water notice for the Village of Blissfield will remain in effect until results from the sampling verify that the water is safe to drink and that the questionable water has been flushed from the system. Customers will be advised when the boil water advisory has been lifted.
