Updated Post: 3: 10pm – The City of Morenci, in conjunction with Slusarski Excavating, have made the fix to the water main that broke in the morning hours. The water main was a main line from the Water Treatment Plant to the downtown area and was in the embankment of Silver Creek. There is a partial boil water notice for affected businesses where water pressure was lost in the downtown area that will be notified, however, the notice does not affect the rest of the community.

Morenci, MI – The City of Morenci has identified a significant water main break on a main line coming from it’s Water Treatment Plant. Water is currently stabilized in the water system, however, residents are being asked to conserve water during this time.
Crews are mobilizing to begin the water main repair. Water should be constant for residents with minimal water loss to homes. Residents may experience a loss of pressure during this time, though.
The City of Morenci will provide updates as the situation improves.
