Addison, MI – The FBI and Lenawee County law enforcement are investigating an incident involving several individuals who took over the virtual Addison Community Schools Board of Education meeting Monday night… making threatening statements, racially charged comments, and threats to bomb various school buildings throughout the county.

According to posts on Addison’s Facebook page Tuesday morning, the meeting was recessed and reconvened within 5 minutes. Then, at 2:00 a.m, Superintendent Steve Guerra, along with the Michigan State Police K-9 bomb squad, made a thorough sweep of the entire campus.

Upon completion of the sweep, the building was confirmed safe for students and staff. Addison Schools were closed Tuesday due to inclement weather.

In a note to parents and the Madison School district community, Superintendent Nick Steinmetz said that one of the threats was made against the district.

A search of the building was completed by a bomb sniffing K-9 early Tuesday morning. Madison Township police sent additional patrol cars to the school building on Tuesday.

Steinmetz said that he is truly thankful that through the swift action of law enforcement, they were able to have the district searched in such a timely fashion… allowing students to attend school Tuesday.
