Adrian, MI – The Lenawee County Democratic Party issued the following statement on Wednesday, January 6th, the day Congress was voting on the certification of the Electoral College votes:
“The Lenawee County Democratic Party condemns Congressman Walberg’s seditious support for the violent overthrow of the Republic. Congressman Tim Walberg’s public statement on Monday, January 4th in support of overturning the legitimate government of the United States on the basis of disproven allegations of fraud while President Trump, members of President Trump’s family, and his supporters made public statements encouraging violence and intervention by the military is clearly sedition.
“His actions and statements are the furtherance of a criminal conspiracy the goal of which is the overthrow of the legitimately elected President of the United States of America. In this betrayal of his oath of office, Congressman Walberg has provided political cover for these red-capped domestic terrorists which he has incited. The fomenting of the violent takeover of the nation’s capital is squarely on the shoulders of President Trump and the shoulders of Congressman Walberg and the other 140 seditious Republican oath breakers.
“For Congressman Walberg to suggest that we didn’t see in the nation’s capital what we all saw today is simply gaslighting. To make statements about other, unrelated events and other unrelated organizations is simply deflection. Responsibility for today’s shameful act of domestic terrorism falls upon those Republicans who sowed the seeds of discord and disunion with blatant lies and propaganda about our elections and no one else.”
