One Dead in Hillsdale Co. Car Crash Over the Weekend

Hillsdale County, MI – A 25-year-old female died when the car she was in caught fire after hitting a tree in Hillsdale County over the weekend.

On December 27th, at approximately 1:55 pm, Troopers from the Michigan State Police Jackson post were dispatched to the single vehicle crash on Somerset Rd. south of Addison Rd. in Wheatland Township.

Initial investigation revealed the vehicle occupied by two Jackson County residents, had been traveling northbound on Somerset Rd. when it lost control, struck a large tree, and caught fire. A 25-year-old female was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 31-year-old male was transported to Henry Ford Allegiance for non-life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Jackson Post were assisted at the scene by Somerset Police Department, Somerset EMS and Fire Department, Addison EMS and Fire Department, the Hillsdale/Lenawee County Medical Examiner’s office and the Michigan State Police First District Traffic Crash Reconstructionist.
