Crash in Adrian Results in Death of Driver, Passenger, and Dog

Adrian, MI – Two Adrian residents and a dog died at the scene of a crash in Adrian on Thursday night. Adrian Police were dispatched at 8:1 2pm to West US-223 south of Industrial Drive for the fatal crash.

The department reported that preliminary investigation showed a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis, driven by a 57- year- old Adrian resident, was traveling north on US-223 and lost control, crossing into the southbound lane, where it was struck by a 2009 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by a 43- year- old Adrian resident.

The driver and 46 year-old-female-passenger of the Avalanche were transported to ProMedica Hickman Hospital with non- life-threatening injuries. The Mercury driver and her 60-year-old male passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, as was a dog in the car. A 14-year-old female passenger in the Grand Marquis was transported to Toledo Hospital with unspecified injuries.

Names of those involved are being withheld pending notification to next of kin. Weather appears to have been a factor in the crash.

Adrian Police were assisted at the scene by the Lenawee County Sheriff Department, Michigan State Police, Adrian Township Police, Madison Township Police, Lenawee County Crash Investigation Unit, Adrian Fire Department, Madison Township Fire Department, Lenawee County Medical Examiner Office, Affordable Towing, Michigan Department of Transportation and Peaceful Paw Pet Cremation of Adrian.
