
Adrian, MI – A 27 year old Detroit resident died after being struck by a vehicle in Adrian Monday night.
At 6:45 pm, Adrian Police were dispatched to the area of Division and Frank Streets for the crash.
A release issued by the APD said that preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was in the traveled portion of the roadway at the time of the collision, but not in a crosswalk or at a marked intersection suitable for pedestrian crossing, and was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Division Street.
Based on witness statements and an initial damage assessment, it appears that the victim was laying in the roadway at the time of the collision. The circumstances surrounding how the victim got into the street are under investigation.
The victim, a 27 year old Detroit resident, was transported to a hospital in Toledo, where they later died. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
Adrian Police were assisted at the scene by the Lenawee Crash Investigation Team, including officers from the Adrian Township Police Department and Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department.
