Adrian, MI – Nine Lenawee County fire departments responded to a house fire at 157 East Butler Street in the City of Adrian on Monday. Adrian Fire Captain Michael Springer told WLEN News that the fire was mainly in the front portion of the house, on both the first and second floor.

Captain Springer reported that an adult female was treated for significant burns and transported to a local hospital for further care. Others in the home at the time went to the hospital on their own for smoke inhalation injuries.

Captain Springer told WLEN News that a dog was killed in the fire, a second dog was able to escape, and a third dog was rescued by firefighters. It is unclear at this time what started the fire, and whether it is being treated as “suspicious.”

Damage was also done to the siding of a neighboring home.

When WLEN News spoke with Captain Springer early Monday afternoon, there were no injuries to any firefighters.
