Adrian, MI – If you’ve lived in Adrian for any amount of time, changes are you knew Dr. Mike Dawson.

Born in Ypsilanti in 1945, he passed away of natural causes on Monday.

Dr. Dawson went to Medical School at the University of Michigan, followed by an internship at Vanderbilt and later an Orthopedic residency at The Cleveland Clinic. Upon completion of his Army duty, Mike moved to Adrian where he started Southeastern Orthopedics, operating out of Bixby Hospital.

He was the team Doctor for high school football teams for a number of years, and often consulted with the University of Michigan football Orthopods and some pro athletes. Dr. Dawson was also a member of the Siena Heights University Board of Trustees for 21 years. The field at O’Laughlin Stadium is named after Mike and his late wife, Lynne.

Due to the on-going coronavirus, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagley Funeral Home where online condolences and memories may be shared.
