Local Residents Appointed by Gov. Whitmer to Statewide Committees

Lansing, MI – Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced two local appointments to a statewide committee and council.

Laurie Isley, of Palmyra, has been appointed to the Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee. Isley is a co-owner of Sunrise Farms, Inc., a family farm where they grow soybeans and corn.

The Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee develops procedures relating to the soybean marketing program and recommends amendments to the marketing program. The appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.

Beth Kohler, of Monroe, was appointed to the Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council. Kohler is a Southeast Michigan outreach representative for Special Education Mediation Services.

The Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council advocates for people with developmental disabilities to increase access to appropriate treatment, services, and habilitation. The appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
