
Adrian, MI – The WLEN News Department continues to keep Lenawee County up-to-date on the latest COVID-19 numbers reported by the local Health Department and the State of Michigan.
The Lenawee County Health Department is reporting 31 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, the largest single day increase since the data was being reported in March.
45 percent… 252 of the 555 total confirmed cases were monitoring at home as of Tuesday afternoon.
52 percent… 286… of the total confirmed cases were discontinued from isolation and improving.
The Lenawee County Health Department, in a press release, said that many recent cases are among individuals age 18 to 24 years of age, with the most notable increase in this group occurring the last week of August. The following data shows the number of cases among the 18 to 24 year- old group during the month of August:
August 1-8 4 cases
August 9-15 7 cases
August 16-22 3 cases
August 23-31 57 cases
Many of these cases are associated with students returning to Adrian College and Siena Heights University. The release said that the Health Department is currently working closely with both AC and SHU to address outbreaks.
Adrian College has reported 152 total cases of COVID-19; 139 active cases and 13 recovered. Siena Heights University has reported 2 positive COVID-19 cases; both active cases.
The Health Department went on to say, in the press release, that due to the timing of when results are referred to the Michigan Disease Surveillance System, not all Adrian College COVID-19 cases are reflected in Lenawee County’s count today.
Thirteen total deaths from COVID-19 have been reported in Lenawee County. There are 4 COVID-19 related hospitalizations as of Tuesday afternoon.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported that statewide on Tuesday there were 718 new cases, and 15 deaths… with 8 of them identified in a Vital Records review.
