Lenawee County, MI – The Lenawee County Health Department reported on Friday that there were no patients being treated for COVID-19 at a hospital.
Numbers from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services website on Thursday say that ProMedica has 10 in-patient individuals with COVID-19, and 2 in the ICU (intensive case unit). Statewide on Thursday, MDHHS reported that there were 636 COVID-19 patients in Michigan hospitals, with 173 in the ICU.
Of the 444 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in Lenawee, 162… or 36%… of them are monitoring at home as of Friday afternoon. There were 446 total cases reported on Thursday, but according to Martha Hall… Lenawee County’s Health Officer… two cases that were previously assigned to Lenawee were determined to be Ohio cases.
There are 269 people… 61% of the total cases… considered “discontinued from isolation and improving.”
Thirteen total deaths from COVID-19 have been reported in Lenawee County, with 4 of them from nursing home facilities.
WLEN News asked Hall about if someone gets two positive tests, are they being double-counted? She said that in an emailed response: “two positive tests for the same person would only count as one COVID positive case, as it is one person. So two positive tests for the same person would not be counted multiple times as a new case. However, it is my understanding that all positive and negative tests are counted when calculating the total tests conducted and when determining the percentage of tests that are positive out of the total number of tests conducted (percent positive).”
WLEN News also asked about possible false positives at a nursing home. Hall said that: “I am not aware that any tests have been determined to be false positives at nursing homes. A positive confirmatory test is considered to be a positive test, with or without the presence of symptoms.”
