Fairfield Township, MI – A local group of volunteers distributed over 800 backpacks filled with back-to-school-supplies to local students over the weekend in Fairfield Township.

Event organizer, Bonnie Glisson, told WLEN News that the event was a success and she was thankful for the work of all the volunteers who made the event possible.

Monetary contributions and non perishable food items were donated for each backpack. Several safety guidelines were in place at the Fairfield Baptist Church…where the event took place.

Glisson said that volunteers were under a lot of pressure over the last two weeks to get these school supplies to those in need…

She also told WLEN News that it was a moving weekend…

Neighbors of Hope Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry was the beneficiary of the gifted food. Several backpacks were donated to the Neighbors of Hope Women’s Center in Tecumseh, and others will be given to the Lenawee County Child Advocacy Center in Adrian.
