The Lenawee County Historical Society recently announced the opening of its new exhibit honoring almost 200 years of law enforcement agencies and correctional facilities in Lenawee County.
The exhibit includes artifacts from county and local law enforcement agencies as well as photos and information on jails located in the county since 1824. Police badges, uniforms, patches, and department photos dating from the 19th century, as well as confiscated weapons and drug paraphernalia are on display.
A prominent feature of the exhibit is a memorial to the eight local, county and state police officers who have been killed in the line of duty since the first officer was shot to death in 1880.
The exhibit is located in the historic Carnegie Library building at 110 East Church street in Adrian and is open to the public Fridays and Saturdays from 10am till 2pm.
