Adrian, MI – A crowd of around 100 people gathered at the old Lenawee County Courthouse, in Adrian, to protest on Sunday afternoon.
The death of George Floyd while in police custody in Minneapolis, Minnesota has sparked demonstrations across America, including multiple in Lenawee County.
The protest in the county seat was centered around Black Lives Matter. There was also a candlelight vigil for victims of injustice.
The peaceful protesters walked the streets of Adrian, going from the old Lenawee County Courthouse, down Main Street, to Toledo St., to Croswell St., then to Bristol St., Addison Street, and eventually stopping at Siena Heights Drive. Law Enforcement provided traffic control throughout the march.
A group of Adrian Dominican Sisters greeted the protesters as they marched near their campus, holding signs in support of the protester’s cause. After stopping near the McLaughlin Health Building & Division of Education at SHU, the march wound its way through several neighborhoods, ending up back in front of the old Courthouse.
Children and their families came out of their homes to film and support the protesters. The group concluded with a candlelight vigil for victims of injustice.
