Was Recent Lenawee County Death from COVID-19? Officials Release Statement to the Public

David Stimpson, Chairman of the Lenawee County Board of Commissioners, released this statement Thursday afternoon:

“County officials are aware of the recent death of a Raisin Township resident who may have been undiagnosed with COVID-19. The attending physician, who is not a county official, will rule on the cause of death.

This resident was not tested for COVID-19 prior to passing away. To my understanding, this resident was not tested after death either.

The Health Department is working with other members of the household to take steps to mitigate potential COVID-19 exposure. County officials are continuing to investigate suspected COVID-19 cases and as information becomes available will be shared with the public.

If you believe you have symptoms of COVID-19, you should call your primary care physician, local urgent care, or health clinic to be screened.

Stay Home. Stay Safe.

David Stimpson

Chair, Board of Commissioners ”
