Tecumseh Police Department Suspending All Elective Fingerprinting Until Further Notice

tecumseh-police-2

The Tecumseh Police Department issued this statement to WLEN News on Thursday:

“Effective immediately, the Tecumseh Police Department is suspending all elective fingerprinting (concealed pistol license, preemployment background  checks, etc.) activities until further notice. Eliminating non-emergent scenarios, which place our  members in close contact with the public, is one measure that has been identified to reduce the risk of communicable disease transmission. We want to express that this measure is being taken out of an abundance of caution and fingerprinting will resume once it is deemed appropriate.

Any TECUMSEH CITY resident REQUIRED to submit fingerprints between today’s date and  April 1, 2020 is encouraged to contact the department Monday – Thursday, 8am-6pm at (517)423-7494, where exceptions may be honored on a case by case basis.

Again, this closure does not affect police or emergency services and is only related to specific business functions of the department. We appreciate your patience as we all work to minimize the disruption caused by this reported pandemic.

For any other police questions, you may contact the department for assistance.”
