Michigan officials say two people in the Detroit area have tested positive for the coronavirus infection. One person in Oakland County had traveled outside the country, while a person from Wayne County had traveled within the U.S.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Dr. Joneigh Khaldun spoke to reporters Tuesday night. The patients are in hospitals, and both cases will be reviewed by federal health experts.
The Lenawee County Health Department released a statement earlier in the day, saying that they are working on preparedness and response planning for the COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus and is “carefully monitoring the situation at a local level.”
The Health Department reminds Lenawee County residents to take precaution against the virus by:
- Washing your hands often with soap and water
- Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
- Avoiding contact with people who are sick
