Garage a “Total Loss” After Tuesday Afternoon Fire

Fire crews were on scene within minutes of the call for a garage fire at 115 Seeley St. in the City of Adrian Tuesday afternoon.

According to Adrian Fire Department Lieutenant Brad Vanderlooven, they received the initial call at 1:04pm, and the fire was under control within about five minutes of fighting it.

The renter of the 115 Seeley St. property was present at the time of the fire, but was in the house, not the garage. Lt. Vanderlooven told WLEN News that the man may have been working on a motorcycle in the garage.

The neighboring home, 119 Seeley St., sustained exterior damage as well…with the wind being a key factor in that case.

The house at 115 Seeley St. was partially affected due to the close proximity to the garage.

The cause of the fire was under investigation by the Adrian Fire Department as of 2 pm Tuesday. There were no injuries reported.

A post on a gofundme page for the renters of 115 Seeley St. says that the motorcycle the man was working on backfired and exploded.

Lt. Vanderlooven said that several fire departments responded, including: Raisin Township, Adrian Township, Madison Township, and Adrian City. Palmyra Township was called in to cover the Adrian City station. Adrian City Police assisted with traffic control.
