“Say It With Clay” is an advanced ceramic exhibition featuring work created by students in the Fall 2019 semester, led by Technical Assistant Travis Erxleben in the Adrian College Art Department. The show runs from Monday, Feb. 17 through Friday, March 13. A reception is scheduled on Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

This advanced ceramic class was designed to introduce art major students to the more in-depth methods and techniques of clay formation and idea conception. The exhibition title refers to the creative process that enables self-expression, interpretation of everyday issues, and visual problem solving. The works on display range in content from political and controversial issues to the recontextualization of everyday objects. The Say It With Clay exhibition explores metaphors made through the three-dimensional medium, clay.

“Context” is a solo exhibition by Yusuf Dubois Abdul-Lateef, running from Monday, Feb. 17 through Friday, March 13. A reception is scheduled on Thursday, March 12 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Lateef is a visual artist residing in Toledo, Ohio. His primary vocation is that of a painter, but he considers himself a creative engineer using installation and performance art. This exhibition explores the spaces between the artist and audience within the context of being. Like a reverberating sound, Lateef is interested in dissonance and what lingers within the cracks of dialogue.

Both galleries are located in the Shipman Library, off Williams Street on the Adrian College campus. Free street parking is available. Gallery hours are Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours on Thursday until 7 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
