ADRIAN, Mich. — Adrian College has taken another major step in rankings of Colleges in the Midwest, according to U.S. News & World Report. In its 2020 edition of America’s Best Colleges, U.S. News & World Report has once again ranked Adrian College as a top regional college in the Midwest. Adrian College has been named to the “Best Regional College” section for the sixth consecutive year. Moving up one spot in the “Most Innovative” institution section, Adrian is listed number two in this specific category. Adrian College was also listed for the sixth straight year as a “Best Value School.”

This year, Adrian College is in the “Best Regional Colleges for Undergraduate Teaching” category, in the number four position. The College is also listed in two new sections, “Top Performers on Social Mobility” and “A Focus on Student Success.” In the Focus on Student Success category, Adrian College is listed in two areas, “First-Year Experience,” for building into the curriculum first-year seminars or other academic programs that bring small groups of students together with faculty or staff on a regular basis, and “Senior Capstone,” for asking students nearing the end of their college years to create a project that integrates and synthesizes what they’ve learned. The project might be a thesis, a performance or an exhibit of artwork.

“The momentum and continuous improvements inside and outside the classroom at Adrian College continue to receive national attention,” Dr. Jeffrey R. Docking, president of Adrian College, said. “With over $80 million in new facilities, record enrollments and over 40 percent growth in the size of our faculty, Adrian College has established itself as a distinctive and innovative educational leader in the United States.”

The continued recognition as a “Most Innovative” institution recognizes institutions making the most innovative improvements in terms of curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology or facilities. Adrian College remaining on the list of “Best Value Schools” takes into account the institutions commitment to academic quality and the cost of attendance.

“Recognition for innovation is especially gratifying because the single-most important thing we can do for our students and our community is to inspire a culture of innovation and critical thinking,” Docking said. “Adrian College recognizes the need for students and faculty to be fueled by innovative programs, forward-thinking projects and inspirational surroundings.”

This is the 11th consecutive year Adrian College has been featured by U.S. News & World Report. In its 2009 edition of America’s “Best Colleges” and again in 2010, Adrian College received top billing as the “No.1 Up-and-Coming School in the Midwest.” In its 2011 and 2012 edition of “America’s Best Colleges,” U.S. News & World Report ranked Adrian College as one of the top five schools in the Midwest of Regional Colleges to have the least amount of debt upon graduation.
