A Milan police officer has been fired after being charged with multiple child sexual assault charges.
47 year old Michael Couture, of Manchester, was arraigned in Lenawee County on two felony counts each of first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct and one felony count of accosting a minor for immoral purposes, court records show.
The charges, stemming from an investigation by Michigan State Police, involve an incident alleged to have occurred in 2008 with a minor younger than 13, court records show.
Couture was also a part-time officer for the Village of Clinton Police Department for over 20 years until his arrest.
Couture is free on $250,000 bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary examination August 6th, before Lenawee County District Judge Jonathan Poer.
First-degree criminal sexual conduct is punishable by up to life in prison.
