On Friday night, Darius Sanders, of Youngstown, jumped into Wamplers Lake to swim. A witness on the pontoon boat that he was riding in told the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department that Sanders was in distress. The witness then jumped into the water to help him, but was unable to reach Sanders…who was under water.
Cambridge Township Police responded to the scene to search…aided by the Cambridge Township Fire Department…but the victim was not located Friday night.
Sander’s body was recovered Sunday morning.
Lenawee County Sheriff’s Marine Unit and Dive Team, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Dive Team. Lenawee County Air Truck, LCA, and the DNR also assisted in the search.
