10 Year Old Boy Dies From Injuries Sustained in Friday Morning Crash in Hudson Township

Hudson Township, Lenawee County- On Friday, July 12, 2019 at approximately 10:45a.m., Troopers from the Monroe Post were dispatched to a two vehicle traffic crash on Carleton Road near Dey Highway in Hudson Twp.

From evidence at the scene and interviews with witnesses, the following sequence of events were determined. A Honda minivan driven by a 50-year-old female from Toledo was traveling west on Carlton Road when the driver attempted to pass a vehicle in an area designated as no passing. The Honda minivan then struck a Chrysler 200 headed east that was being driven by a 27-year-old male from Adrian.

The driver of the Chrysler 200 was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Toledo for treatment
of non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Honda minivan that had been headed
westbound was transported to Promedica Toledo for treatment of serious injuries. A 10-yearold boy that had been riding in the minivan was transported from the scene to Bixby Hospital
where he succumbed to injuries he sustained in the crash.

The Michigan State Police were assisted by fire departments from Clayton, Hudson and
Madison Twp. In addition, the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist at the
scene.

Drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this crash. Anyone having information regarding this incident should contact Tpr. Andrew Dayfield of the Monroe Post at 734-242-3500.
