Re-Tree Tecumseh To Plant July 1st; Seeking Volunteers

retree-tecumseh

Re-Tree Tecumseh seeks volunteers to help plant trees on Monday, July 1 at 6pm on North Evans Street.

“We’re fortunate that our recent fundraising campaign brought in enough money to enable us to put in 12 more trees this season,” said Cheri Hinkleman, president of Re-Tree Tecumseh.
“Spring is the best time to plant, so we need to get it done as soon as possible.”

Re-Tree Tecumseh installed 20 flowering trees in the same area in May, thanks to a
matching grant from ReLeaf Michigan, a non-profit tree planting and education organization.
Jim Karle of Karle Landscaping donated his time and equipment to dig the holes for the
May event, and will do the same for the July 1 event.

Volunteers are asked to wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing, and to bring a
shovel and/or garden rake and gloves if you have them. The group will meet at the
AJ Smith Recreation Center, 810 N. Evans Street, at 5:45 pm. Event occurs rain or shine. No planting experience is necessary.

Middle school-age children and older are welcome to participate. For more information, contact Hinkleman at 517-902-3019 or chinkleman@comcast.net.
