Brad Hamilton has stepped down as interim superintendent of Tecumseh Public Schools after one month on the job.
The board of education hired him April 8th for $700 a day pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations against interim Superintendent Ryan Rhoades, who is currently on paid, non-disciplinary leave.
Mlive reports that Board President Tim Simpson said he and Hamilton were discussing certain staff members’ credentials when Hamilton gave him an ultimatum. He said the board will move forward with finding a new interim superintendent as quickly as possible.
At the most recent school board meeting on April 29, Hamilton urged the school board members to slow down in implementing a reconfiguration of schools for the 2019-20 school year.
Hamilton was Tecumseh Schools’ fourth superintendent since January, when an entirely new school board took office.
Here is audio from Hamilton talking to WLEN News back in April about his first task after being hired by the board in April…
With his abrupt departure, the school board will have to try to rebuild trust in the community at their upcoming board meetings… their next one being scheduled for Monday, May 13th.
