The Adrian Civil Air Patrol is hosting a state-wide mission at the Lenawee County Airport this weekend.
The purpose of the mission will be to practice Search and Rescue and Domestic Imagery Still Photo and DAART Full Motion Video skills to be of use to our community, state and nation during times of disaster. The mission will start Friday evening and last until Sunday afternoon.
Weather permitting, six or more CAP aircraft are expected, along with seven ground support teams, to exercise using several different simulated emergency scenarios. Several different practice target locations will be located around Lenawee County and you may see the distinctive CAP Red, White and Blue search ahead this weekend as they locate the target sites.
After the aircraft locates the targets they will communicate the target locations to the Ground Team support units to actual go to the target location and evaluate the simulated situation, report their findings to the Mission Base at the Lenawee County Airport then secure the site. One of the scenarios that will be exercised this weekend is to review the Adrian Civil Air Patrol/Lenawee Emergency Management River Raisin Flooding aerial imagery plan and practice still and full motion video of the river from Clinton to Deerfield.
For more information about CAP visit the Adrian Civil Air Patrol Squadron meeting any Tuesday evening from 7-9 pm at the Adrian CAP Building at the Lenawee County Airport or Call 517-403-4799.
