Adrian Home Invasion Suspect Arraigned In 2A District Court

The suspect in a home invasion that occurred March 24, 2019, has been arraigned in 2A District Court.

Jacob Andrew Ryan, age 21 of Adrian, was arraigned on one count of home invasion, one count of possession of burglar’s tools, and one count of larceny in a building. He was captured by Adrian Police exiting a residence on S. Center St in the City of Adrian on March 24.

Police were called to the home by a juvenile, who was home at the time of the break-in. The juvenile heard the back door being forced open, exited the home and called 911. Police arrived, and apprehended the suspect as he attempted to flee the residence.

The suspect was in possession of a pry bar and items from inside the residence at the time of his arrest.

“This young witness did exactly what he should have in this situation”, said Adrian Police Department Deputy Chief Laurence VanAlstine, “He got himself to a safe place and called 911. His actions are commendable.”

Ryan faces a probable cause hearing on April 2, 2019, and a preliminary exam April 9, 2019.

First degree home invasion carries penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
Possession of burglary tools carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
Larceny carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
