Brown has been an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Monroe County since 2004, where he handles both misdemeanor and felony dockets. He also responds to all appeals on behalf of the Prosecutor’s Office. Before that Brown was a law clerk in the 38th Circuit Court.
“Michael brings an excellent reputation and a wealth of experience to the bench, and I am confident he will successfully serve the citizens of Monroe County,” Snyder said.
Brown is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Federalist Society, the Incorporated Society of Irish-American Lawyers, the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan, the University of Michigan Alumni Association, and many other organizations. He serves as the President of the Monroe County Assistant Prosecutors Association and Vice President of the Monroe County Bar Association. He was previously a member of the Michigan Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault and the Michigan Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems.
Brown earned a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in 2000 and a law degree from the University of Michigan in 2003.
Brown fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Jarod Calkins. He must seek election in November 2020 for a full term.
