  1. Medical Marijuana- 5 Medical Marijuana Facilities were granted provisional permits by the Adrian City Commission on Monday night. Main Street Products LLC, Amazing Budz LLC, MEM gardens LLC, Fluresh LLC and Oasis Wellness Center LLC were all approved by a 6 yes 1 no vote. Staying true to his voting record, Commissioner Kirk Valentine was the 1 no vote in all cases. He has said several times that his reasoning is personal and family oriented.
  2. Gun Ordinance- A City of Adrian gun ordinance is going to at least be looked at by the Adrian City Commission at their next pre meeting study session. A city resident has expressed the desire to have an indoor gun range in the city. The idea has already been pitched to the city’s planning commission. For this venture to become a reality, the city commission will have to change an ordinance which prohibits the firing of guns in the city.
  3. Strategic Plan- During the pre-meeting of the Adrian City Commission Monday night, Commissioner Brad Watson brought to the commission’s attention that the city’s strategic plan has not been finalized, and that more action needed to be taken with the document. The group decided to hold a study session Monday, July 30th at 6:30pm.
  4. Public Comment Time Restriction- How long is too long? The Adrian City Commission talked about the potential for putting a time limit on the number of minutes allowed for public comment during regular meetings. As of right now, there is nothing in place that outlines that. Commissioner Brad Watson brought a rough draft forward to the commission during their pre meeting Monday night that placed a potential time limit of 3 minutes for each individual that intends to speak at the end of the meeting about items not on the agenda. Ideas bounced back and forth between commissioners, but in the end, they seemed somewhat divided on the issue. The issue will not go away however, as a new draft will be constructed and more discussion will follow.
