A presentation of the retirement of long-term firefighter Mark Monroe was given to the council. Guests at the meeting, volunteers from AmeriCorps, were honored by the council. A hand-full of reappointments were approved as well:

Planning Commission: Paul Bidwell, Robert Fox, and Calvin Smith

Historic Preservation Commission: Sean Autrey

Approval was given by the council to award a bid for parking lot asphalt paving at the waste water treatment plant in the city.

Perhaps the highlight of the meeting was outlined for WLEN News by Tecumseh City Manager Dan Swallow…

Redevelopment Ready Communities (RRC) is defined on www.miplace.org as: “…a voluntary, no-cost certification program designed to promote effective redevelopment strategies through a set of best practices. The program measures and then certifies communities that integrate transparency, predictability and efficiency into their daily development practices. The RRC certification is a formal recognition that your community has a vision for the future—and the fundamental practices in place to get there.”
