On Wednesday morning in Palmyra Township, near the Village of Blissfield, a house fire was reported on Wellsville Highway between Driggs Road and Rouget Road. Palmyra Township Fire was the primary crew on the scene, with assistance coming from several departments including Adrian Township, Blissfield, Ridgeway Township, Deerfield Township, Raisin Township, Tecumseh, Madison Township, and Cambridge Township. A Blissfield Police Officer and a Lenawee County Sheriff’s Deputy were deployed for traffic control.
The fire allegedly started from a wood-burning furnace in the home, but an investigation is currently ongoing to determine its cause. At this time, authorities are uncertain if the structure is a total loss. No injuries were reported at the scene.
