Former Adrian City Commissioner Devin Stevens Sentenced

A sentencing hearing for former Adrian City Commissioner Devin Stevens took place Friday morning in Lenawee County Circuit Court. Stevens was charged with one count of possession of child sexually abusive material. Circuit Court Judge Margaret Noe sentenced Stevens to have no contact with anyone under the age of 17, serve 5 years of probation, serve 90 days deferred in the Lenawee County Jail, pay court and other fees, and to have no possession or use of any device capable of internet access except at work.

In addition, Stevens will have to register on the Michigan Sex Offenders Registry for 15 years. Stevens is able to appeal the sentence.

Former Adrian City Commissioner Devin Tyler Stevens pleaded guilty earlier this year to possessing a video that depicted a minor in a sexual manner. 23-year-old Stevens was charged in December with one felony count of possessing child sexually abusive material. He faced up to four years in prison.

The information about the offense said it happened in Madison Township. Stevens told Noe he was not in Madison Township when he possessed the video but that it was made there. He admitted to both seeing and possessing the video. Stevens was charged following a Madison Township police investigation after a Madison High School teacher caught a student trying to shoot video with his cellphone of the teacher urinating in a restroom at Madison High School.

The teenager was also charged with possession of child sexually abusive material.
