Attempted Child Abduction On Walking Path In Tecumseh

This morning, at approximately 9:39 am, the Tecumseh Police Department was made aware of an attempted child abduction on the Indian Trails park walking path. The caller advised that an unknown woman attacked her and attempted to pull her infant out of its carrier. The caller was able to fend off the woman with the aid of a witness. Upon arrival, Officers found all parties still on scene and quickly determined that the female suspect may suffer from one or multiple psychiatric disorders.

The female suspect was transported to Promedica Herrick Hospital for a mental health evaluation and the woman and child were not injured. While the investigation is still open, it has been determined that this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public at this time. It is unknown if criminal charges will be filed at this time, as this will be determined at the conclusion of the investigation, and after further consultation with the victim.
