Employees of a no-kill animal shelter say a dog froze to death after being abandoned outside their Detroit location on Monday.
A Pomeranian-mix was dumped in front of Detroit Dog Rescue. Detroit Dog Rescue posted on its Facebook page Tuesday saying quote: “We do have camera footage and are actively looking for the person responsible for this.” The post added: “Unfortunately, the dog did not survive.”
Temperatures dipped into single digits that night, according to the National Weather Service. The person who left the dog drove away in a van. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detroit Dog Rescue, 313-458-8014. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
According to 2016 Michigan animal shelter reports, Detroit Dog Rescue took in 245 animals and facilitated 184 adoptions in 2016.
