ADRIAN — The Adrian City Commission held a public hearing on an Industrial Facilities Tax Exemption Certificate for Adrian Steel’s 906 James Street facility.
President/CEO Mark Jackson said the company, headquartered in Adrian since 1953, plans an expansion that will nearly double manufacturing capacity and create 40 new jobs paying $33-$38 an hour.
Jackson described it as a $43 million investment in the city’s future.
Resident Dane Tyson, who lives near the site, raised concerns about ongoing vibrations from industrial activity but did not object to the project. He just asked for caution and consideration as the city continues expanding.
The commission unanimously adopted the Resolution, granting the certificate for 12 years at up to a 50% tax abatement.
