ONSTED — Federal investigators are now treating the disappearance of a Michigan woman in the Bahamas as a possible murder investigation.
Fifty-five-year-old Lynette Hooker vanished in April while boating near Elbow Cay.
U.S. Coast Guard divers have arrived in the Bahamas to search previously unsearched areas based on GPS evidence gathered during the investigation. Officials say the case has been examined for weeks under a federal statute involving the possible foreign murder of a U.S. citizen.
Investigators say newly analyzed GPS data appears to contradict statements made by Hooker’s husband, Brian Hooker, who reported she fell from a dinghy and was swept away.
He has denied wrongdoing and has not been charged. National News reports search efforts remain ongoing.
