TECUMSEH — The Tecumseh City Council heard a presentation regarding a Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Grant the city recently received during their regular meeting on Monday.

According to Gilmore, Tecumseh’s tree canopy percentage is 36%, which is above state and national averages, but there is still a need for additional coverage in the northwest and northeast quadrants.
Tree canopy can intercept stormwater, reduce runoff, and improve water quality within the River Raisin watershed and the Great Lakes basin.
Residents will have another opportunity to participate in tree planting on Saturday, May 30th, on Derby, Stetson and Fedora Street.
