
Wilhelmina J. “Willie” Newell, age 94, of Deerfield, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Blissfield Place, under the loving care of Optimal Care Hospice. She was born in Ridgeway Township, on February 4, 1931, to the late Harold and Helen (George) Osterhout. She graduated from Britton Schools in 1949, and then on September 24, 1949, she married Francis D. Newell, and he preceded her in death on November 4, 2017. Together, they were members of Deerfield United Methodist Church. In her free time, she greatly enjoyed attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events and putting puzzles together. She was a member of Deerfield Fire Department Auxiliary, the Deerfield American Legion Auxiliary, and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Pam Purser and Paula (Scott) Weasel; grandchildren, Tonya (Shane) Sieracki, Ritch (Kellie) Weasel, Jamie Weasel, Eric Purser, and Adam (Stacey) Purser; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Yvonne (Russell) Cadmus; and sister-in-law, Betty Osterhout. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Randy Purser; brothers, Wendell and Robert Osterhout; and a sister, Myra Bush.
The family would like to thank Blissfield Place for the loving care of their mother.
Funeral services for Willie will take place at the Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home in Blissfield, on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Bradley Vasey officiating. Visitation will precede services, starting at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Deerfield Township Cemetery.
