Norman Leroy Schooley – Coldwater

Norman Leroy Schooley, age 73, of Coldwater, Michigan, passed away on Sat, November 23, 2024, at The Laurels of Coldwater.  Norman was born in Hamilton, Ohio to Norman Claude & Margret Disney Schooley on March 05, 1951.  He went to High School at Sarasota High, but graduated from Plymouth High School in 1969.  He went on to earn a certificate in Corrections at Lansing Community College.  He owned a painting company with his father, and also owned a restaurant in Battle Creek, MI.  Later in life he worked for the State of Michigan retiring after 9 years.  While he enjoyed hunting, his true passion was preaching, being Ordained in 1978 by his brother in Christ, Ray Coleman of Wyandotte, MI. His willingness to preach a sermon, wedding or funeral for his family in Christ will forever be remembered.  Norman is survived by his wife of 54 years, Juanita of Coldwater. His daughter, Angela Kelley, daughter Tina (Paul) Pope, and daughter Carolynn Davis all of Coldwater, MI.  He is also survived by a brother Ernest (Marsha) Schooley of Fort Worth, TX. Sister Audrey Taylor of Coldwater, Sister Sandra Davidson of Galesburg and Sister Vicky (Don) Muraoka of Galesburg. He is also survived by 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren with 1 on the way, many nieces and nephews. He and his wife fostered children for 15 years as well as daycare children for 20 years. He loved each and every one dearly.  He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother-n-law Michael Taylor, a brother Daniel Schooley and a brother Michael Schooley and a half sister Shirley Murray.  Cremation has already taken place.  A celebration of Life will be held at Genesis Outreach, 54 N. Hudson St Coldwater, MI, on December 1, 2024 at 3:00 PM with Reverend Harold Jewell, of Oasis of Love Church officiating.  There will be a dinner following at the American Legion of Coldwater.  J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home of Adrian, MI will be handling the cremation arrangements.  Memorial donations may be made to the family.  The family wishes to extend their gratitude to The Laurels of Coldwater, Gentiva Hospice Services, and J.
