Lenawee County, MI – The Village of Onsted and the City of Morenci have been dealing with water main issues this week. There is currently a boil water advisory in parts of Onsted, and City crews fixed a main break near Morenci Schools.

A news release from Onsted Thursday morning said that, effective immediately, a boil advisory is in effect for residents on the east and west side of Main Street from 2nd street to Parkside Street. No school buildings or restaurants are affected.

In connection with the Water Improvement Project, the main water line along Main Street was broken. The system must be flushed and bacteriological samples must be collected over the next three days until results from sampling verify the water is safe to drink.

The advisory shall remain in effect until at least Sunday, December 4th, 2022. For more information, contact the Onsted Village Offices at (517) 467-4618 or Jack Dillon, DPW Superintendent at (517) 918-0672.

Morenci Area Schools were closed at 11am today due to a water main break in the City of Morenci. The repair, at W. Locust St. and N. Summit St., was completed on Thursday, according to a post on the City’s Facebook page. The post went on to say that pressure was maintained during the repairs, so water did not need to be shut off and a boil water advisory is NOT in effect. The City of Morenci thanked the City of Hudson Department of Public Works for their assistance.
