Tecumseh, MI – United Auto Workers Union members went on strike outside of KIRCHHOFF Automotive Tuesday morning. UAW Local 3000 President Steve Gonzales told WLEN News that workers were striking because they were promised better safety conditions and wage increases that they were not receiving. There were also issues with weekend work scheduling and inconsistencies with management personnel.

Gonzales said that the strike was not related to COVID-19 safety protocols at the facility.

WLEN News reached out to KIRCHHOFF Automotive for comment on Tuesday, and received this from Nathalia Abreu, Communications & Marketing Manager:

“At this time, KIRCHHOFF Automotive is actively working in good faith with the union to settle the strike.”

The facility is located just east of the Tecumseh city limits, on M-50.
