Adrian, MI – It’s a match. Three simple words that can change… and save… a life. A local graduate of Adrian High School, and a current student at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, got a call saying that she was a match for a bone marrow donation to help a leukemia patient in Italy.

It takes a special kind of person to go into the medical field, especially in this day-and-age, but that is the chosen profession for Riley Zick, a Junior at the University of Michigan.

Her donation will help cure the disease of the man she doesn’t even know…

She talked to WLEN News about how she initially found out about the opportunity to donate…

There was a process for signing up to be a bone marrow donor, and Zick said she was informed and excited the whole time…

She talked about why she donated…

After spending seven hours with needles in your veins, and sitting still the whole time, Riley said that she was tested just to make sure everything check-out okay…

With Riley’s bone marrow likely in Italy right now, she will not know anything about her “match” unless he initiates contact with her…
