Adrian, MI – After graduating from Adrian College with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication and Journalism in 2014, Claire Simpson returned to her alma mater on January 19 as the new digital media coordinator.

“I am eager to be back at my alma mater to use the skills I acquired to give back to the college,” Simpson stated. “Adrian  College is like home to me.”

Simpson, a Manchester, Mich., native, also studied at Central Michigan University and acquired her Master of Arts degree  in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts in 2016.

“I was very pleased to see Claire’s name rise to the top of our stack of applications,” Frank Hribar, vice president of  enrollment and student affairs, said. “Hiring alumni has always worked out extremely well for Adrian College. Claire’s  experience in digital media will allow us to keep the Adrian College community well informed on our social media  platforms.”

While studying at Adrian College, Simpson was a co-captain of the Bulldogs’ cheerleading team, and the acrobatics and  tumbling team. She presented research for the Ribbons of Excellence program, participated in study abroad and was a  member of Sigma Tau Delta; a journalism fraternity on campus.

Simpson said she will focus on highlighting the many opportunities Adrian College offers its students, whether it be  through academia, sports, Greek life or various other facets.

“Adrian College has so much to offer to students,” Simpson said. “I want to be able to relay that to alumni, prospective  students and others through creative and written content.”

After earning her masters, Simpson worked for three years in the advertising sector at Global Team Blue in Dearborn,  Mich., negotiating and purchasing national advertisement spots for Lincoln and Ford Motor Co.

Simpson advanced into a Sales Operations Coordinator role at General Scientific Corporation where she created  communication channels between all departments, assisted in rebranding, and tracked sales activity, until the company  limited staffing due to COVID-19.

“Being able to take everything I have learned from my previous positions and help the college grow, is an opportunity I am  very fortunate to have,” Simpson said. “It feels great to be back on campus.”
