Hudson Restaurant Stays Open for Dine-in Service Despite Order

Hudson, MI – Cravins was the host of a “Freedom Rally” Sunday afternoon. The restaurant has decided to stay open, despite the recent order issued by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services that closed Michigan dine-in services.

Cravins owner, Vicki Gerig, said that during the first shut-down of indoor dining they could not keep their doors open very long because of the low volume of to-go orders.

Gerig told WLEN News about how they got their keynote speaker Garrett Soldano… the founder of Stand Up Michigan… to talk at the rally, and about her decision to stay open for dine-in…

Gerig feels like people should be presented the information on COVID-19, and then be allowed to make their own decisions…

When asked about concerns Gerig has about possible consequences, she said “I’ll have to play it one day at a time and see what happens.” Gerig told WLEN News that the employees at Craven’s will be wearing masks in the restaurant and they are asking customers to wear them to their table.

She said that she doesn’t want a check this time around, similar to the spring of this year…

Gerig owns a second eating establishment in Hudson, Mom’s Diner. They too are open for indoor dining.

As of the time this article has been published, the dine-in ban in the State of Michigan is in place through December 8th.
